1. Straddie Clean Up
Event information
This event has passed.
Clean Up Australia Day is on the sixth of March so lets get out there and do our bit. I am holding a clean up event at Amity Point, North Stradbroke Island on the weekend of the 12/13th of March as this gives us a late morning high tide on Saturday. This event is organised by Clean Oceans Australia with help from Reefcheck Australia and SEQ catchments, all data recorded is entered into the Tangaroa Blue Marine Debris data base. I have 12 spots on this trip with only one spot left. About the trip, you need to be a advanced diver with 40 plus logged dives. I supply accommodation for 12 volunteers, most of the food costs and a BBQ for all the volunteers after the clean up. A $50 deposits covers a 4 way share of $37.50 of the barge fare of $150 per car with the remaining $12.50 going to the food cost for the weekend. Normally we do a social dive on the Sunday, but as all the dive charters are booked out I thought we could do some turtle and dugong spotting out in the Rous Channel and Amity Banks. Normally the social dive would cost $100. I will put in $100 for the transport of the boat with the rest sharing the barge fare of $170 shared between the 12 people. So the weekend will cost, $50 deposit and a ride share for the boat trip of $15 for boat transport, $40 maintenance fee(covers oil, and general maintenance of the boat after each trip) and fuel used. The total cost of the weekend will be no more then $120 per volunteer for the weekend.
So Friday night the barge leaves Cleveland at 7pm, you organise your own way to the barge, Saturday from 9am to 1pm clean up dive and BBQ, Saturday afternoon 6 go turtle and dugong spotting. Sunday the other 6 go turtle and dugong spotting mid-morning and we return on the 6pm barge Sunday night. Could everyone please pay their deposit by this weekend,
