Stradbroke Island Dive Trip 4-6 Aug 2016
G’day fellow Unidivers,
I am organising a dive trip with the Grey Nurse Sharks at Stradbroke Island, hosted by the one and only, Ken over the weekend of the 4th-6th Aug. The weekend will include diving with grey nurse and if we are lucky - whales, socialising, dad jokes, chocolate brownies and ice-cream from Point Lookout. Personally, I’m there for the ice-cream and brownies. 😉 If this is of interest to you, read on!
We will be attempting to dive with the Grey nurse sharks which hang around Flat Rock during the winter months. The dives will be to 30m and potentially current so the trip will be limited to advanced divers. If there are enough divers, two waves may operate each day. Each wave will consist of a double dive and please note - the dive locations will depend on weather conditions and the dive group’s certification mix. Experienced divers to assist with dive operations will be most appreciated.
A meeting will take place on Thursday night (6:30pm 3th Aug) at the Unidive shed to sort out the trip logistics. Please bring your dive cert card and your $100 transferable, non- refundable deposit. The plan is to meet at the Cleveland ferry terminal (6:30pm 4th Aug) for the 7pm ferry, returning on the 5 pm Sunday ferry. This puts us back in Brisbane around 7pm. Cars for ride sharing are required. Accommodation at Ken’s place has character and is best describes as back-packer dorm style. So you will need to supply your own sheets/sleeping bag/ pillow/towel etc. A food kitty will be in operation for the trip from Sat breakfast to Sun lunch. Friday dinner is not supplied. Please note any dietary requirements when signing up.
Dive gear is not included and is your responsible with Unidive gear hire available for this trip. Tanks and weights are supplied by Ken.
The total cost will be around $280 - $290: 2 * double dives ($180) + 2 * nights’ accommodation and approx. $50 for food, ferry and fuel.
Priority will be given to those willing to help with: shopping, cooking, cleaning, dive operations, boat loading and transport. Please indicate when signing up if you are willing to assist. Feel free to email me (mark@bpb.com.au) if you have any questions.
