I'm organizing a trip on the Unidive vessel, Down Under to dive Gotham City on the Ecca show holiday, Wed 16th Aug 2017. Gotham City is north of Moreton Island and is one of the most spectacular dive sites in Queensland. Featuring a giant granite rock 15 metres tall, 40 metres long and 25 metres wide, with sheer cliffs off all edges, many divers compare the sight to a small version of the famous Uluru (or Ayers Rock). The rock is decorated with exquisite corals, including black coral trees and sea whips, and is a great place to see spotted eagle rays and wobbegong sharks. Snapper, batfish, gropers and barracuda are also regular visitors to Gotham City. Our 2nd dive will most likely be on the famous Flinders Reef.
This trip is for experienced + divers which means you need to have greater than 50 dives, be certified to 30 m, comfortable in current as well as good navigation skills. We will be returning to shore around 4pm and be back at the shed by 6pm to unload and wash the boat. Dive gear is your responsibility and as there are other trips running concurrently this weekend, gear hire from Unidve will be at best limited.
There will be a trip meeting at the shed this Thursday night (10th Aug 6:30pm Sharp) for a briefing. For the trip to go ahead a boat tower and primary boat handler. Volunteers are required for the following tasks: food, finance, filling tanks, trip report. The expected cost will be between $80 - $100. Please bring $50 cash deposit on the Thursday night with balance required on the day.
