Event information
This event is full.
Hello fellow Unidivers,
We have chartered Blue Bay Divers for a double dive at Julian Rocks (Byron Bay) on the Saturday 22nd October 2016. Blue Bay Divers operate out of Brunswick Heads, which is about a 2-hour drive south from Brisbane. I dive with Blue Bay Divers regularly and find them professional, very accommodating, with Christina’s morning tea second to none…… For more information on Blue Bay Divers and potentially what you may encounter, visit their web site http://www.bluebaydivers.com.au/
This is a day trip with an early start.…. We will meet at the Unidive shed at 4:45 am for a 5:00 am leaving time. Brunswick Heads is in NSW which means daylight saving time, hence the early start. Arrival at Brunswick Heads will be 7:45am (AEDST) for gear up and a departure time of 8:15am. Christina and I will lead 2 groups of buddy pairs around Julian Rocks for two fun filled dives with potentially Grey Nurse sharks, whales, dolphins, Kingfish, jelly fish and who knows what else!
We normally have lunch at the local fishermen’s coop or the Brunswick Heads pub depending on the general consensus. The plan is to be back in Brisbane around 4.00pm depending on the how long dive related matters are discussed over lunch and the Gold Coast traffic…..
Tanks and gear hire remains your responsibility. Gear hire is available from Unidive and Blue Bay Diver’s. Their prices are:
- Double dive with all own gear including tanks and weights. $95
- Tank Hire (air) $20,
- Dive Gear Hire (from Blue Bay Divers) $45 or $15 each piece.
There are ten spots for this trip with all levels welcome. The group will require transport to Brunswick Heads so priority will be given to those offering transport. Please budget $10-$15 for fuel for your driver. You will be required to supply your own mask, snorkel, fins, whistle and safety sausage. I will finalize the dive rooster on Wednesday (12th Oct) night and notify the group via email. You will then have until 5pm Friday (14 Oct) to contact Blue Bay Divers (1800 858 155) to secure your place by credit card number as security. Should you not show for the dive, it is your responsibility to find a suitable placement otherwise you will be charged for the dive. Be warned. On Saturday 15 Oct I will open up any remaining spots to the reserve list on a first in basis.
Disclaimer: Divers should be comfortable diving in current and having close encounters with grey nurse sharks and Wobbegongs etc. So if you wish to go diving with the “Kool Kids” register for this event on the website.
See you under the sea.
