We are honoured to help you start your underwater journey.
The course layout is as follows:
Before payment/ securing a spot on this course, you must complete four prerequisites to ensure you are ready to participate in the course:
-
- UQ SWIM TEST : 400m swim and 2-minute float supervised and signed off by a UQ Aquatic Centre Lifeguard. Please send a photo/scan of your UQ swim certificate as evidence. **
- PADI SWIM TEST : 200m swim and 10-minutes float supervised and signed off by a Unidive PADI Scuba Instructor (Andy, Aidan or myself). When sending through evidence, please mention who signed you off and when. Bonus points if you send a funny selfie with an instructor. **You can complete the two swim tests at the same IF you ensure a UQ lifeguard and Unidive instructor are watching you at the same time as you swim 400m and float for 10minutes. To do this please arrive by 6PM at the UQ aquatic centre tomorrow 1/04/2025.
- PADI MEDICAL FORM: The medical form needs to be filled in and signed. If you are over 18 years old and answer no to all questions, you only need to sign yourself. If you are under 18, you will need a parent or guardian. If you answer yes to a question, you need to book to see your doctor and ask them to sign for you. Some medical histories may require a dive medical test with a specialised diving doctor, but most need a general appointment with a GP to discuss the paperwork and sign.
- UNIDIVE MEMBER: Please go to Registration - UniDive: The University of Queensland Underwater Club and press the link at the bottom of the webpage for new members. You will need to enter your details and follow the prompts. Some questions relate to experienced divers in these cases please answer as best as you can (e.g. when asked if you are certified diver, please answer no – for now!). Once you are certified, you will need to go back in and update your details. At step 6, it will ask for payment - DO NOT PAY. The club membership fee is included in your Open Water course total cost. Please ensure to complete all steps of member registration. When sending me an email with evidence of these four registration prerequisites, please include a screenshot of your account profile membership card.
