Hi all!
Halloween is approaching and we are organizing a CUSTUME DIVE with PRIZE FOR THE BEST OUTFIT for our Experienced divers.
Best outfit will be voted on by our club members and the Prize is a free double dive (value $40) from our Club Boat - Down Under.
Trip priority will be given to:
- SURFACE WATCH (will also participate in the costume draw!)
- PHOTOGRAPHER to take the best costume shots.
Costume requirements: 1) SAFETY FIRST: Your safety is our highest priority! Therefore all costumes must not obstruct any life support equipmet (e.g. Regs, BCD, weights). Okay are: T-shirts, funny hats/hoods, Tank decoration,... . 2) ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY - make sure nothing is left in the ocean. 3) SPOOOOKY!!!
Cost for the Halloween dive: ~$30 (Incl. carpooling, tanks, weights; Excl. Gear hire, check https://www.unidive.org/diving/loans
High tide is at 7:26 pm Qld time. Logistics for this event will be worked out nearer the time.
For all who are keen, we will meet on Thursday 24 October at 6:15 pm at the shed for a pre-dive brief.
Each diver must:
- Be a current Unidive member, medically fit to dive, who passed the swim test.
- Have dived in the last 6 months.
- Have an Advanced certification or equivalent from a recognised agency.
- Have a minimum of 25 dives at 10 different dive sites.
- Have proven experience diving in moderate current.
- Have proven ability to navigate an unfamiliar site with ability to return to the anchor point.
- Dive with a suitable torch, and with a glow stick / marker light attached to the top of their tank or shoulder area.
- Be familiar with hand / torch signals commonly used during night dives.
- Ensure that they have all required dive gear.
Bring your own mask, snorkel, fins and torches, as Unidive does not provide these.
If you need to hire other equipment such as BCD, reg, wetsuit, tanks, and weights, it is your responsibility to hire these before the trip (typically at the Unidive shed on Thursday night before the trip). There will be no one at the shed who can arrange gear hire on the day of the trip. - Dive within their certification and capability.
- Follow instructions given by the Dive Supervisor.
- Notify the Dive Officer and Trip Organiser of any changes to personal circumstances as declared in the event registration form.
- Attend the trip meeting (usually on the Thursday beforehand at 6:30 pm at the Unidive shed).
