Nine mile reef - Commercial - EXP - Kelana
Event information
This event is full.
We are planning to go for an awesome dive at Nine Mile Reef! This reef is located at the border to NSW off Tweed heads and is famously a sharky spot, with leopard sharks in the summer, grey nurse in the winter, and plenty of wobbegongs all year round. Other sharks such as bronze whalers, bull sharks, and even the occasional hammerhead are known to turn up, and there is plenty of other marine life to be found.
We will do two dives with a commercial boat and the cost will be $139 for the operator, $10 to borrow weights and tanks from the club (it will cost more if these are rented from the operator), and approximately $16 to refill the tanks at Adreno (Adreno are offering 2 free tank fills per a day until November as well https://scubadiving.com.au/pages/free-tank-refills). Gear hire is your own responsibility. Fuel costs will be shared across the participants.
As this is a remote and deep dive site (30m), every diver must be Experienced (Minimum Advanced open water or equivalent and 30+ dives)
Every diver must come to the shed the Thursday before the trip (28 September) for a dive briefing to discuss how the day will run. With the goal being to arrive at Kirra Dive in Tweeds Heads around 10.30am.
We have only 6 spots available so be quick to sign up!
If you have any questions about the trip, please email dive@unidive.org.
