UPDATE 2023-10-05: Cancelled
Hi
We plan to go for a double dive at Flinders Reef.
Please read the event description before you sign up.
This trip is aimed at, and priority will be given to, Open Water / beginner divers who haven't yet been out on our boat.
Note: We've made it possible for more people to sign up than the nine spots available on the boat. This will allow prioritising members with less experience and who haven't yet been out on a Downunder trip, yet ensure that participants are experienced enough to make for a safe trip and safe diving. Allowing a few extra people to sign up will also help create a stand-by list to pick from in case someone cancels.
As such, sign up, but please make sure to confirm whether you've been allocated a spot on the boat!
If you are unable to sign up, it may be because you have already been out on our boat previously. You can try to sign up again 24 hours later. If you don't get allocated a spot on the boat, it may be that you are a bit too experienced / overqualified for whom this trip is aimed at. There will be other trips you'll be more than welcome to join instead.
"Flinders-Reef is a small isolated reef north-west of Moreton Island. It has the highest number of coral species of any sub tropical reef system along Australia's east coast. With thousands of species of tropical fish, an array of hard and soft corals, eagle rays, leopard sharks in summer, grey nurse sharks and humpback whales in winter, and the famous Turtle Cleaning Station in only 5m of water it is one of Queensland's most popular open water level dive sites."
Each diver must:
- Be a current Unidive member, medically fit to dive, who passed the swimming test.
- Have an Open water certification or equivalent.
- Have dived in the last 6 months.
- Dive with an SMB / safety sausage, cutting device and whistle. Note: These items are NOT supplied.
- Bring their own mask, snorkel, and fins as Unidive does not provide them.
- Dive within their certification and capability.
- Follow instructions given by the boat handlers or the dive supervisor.
- Help out throughout the whole day.
- Notify the Organiser and the Dive Officer of any changes to their personal circumstances as declared in the event registration form.
- Be able to attend a trip meeting the Thursday before the dive, at 6:30 pm at the Unidive shed.
If you have any questions about the trip, please email mikaelholmqvist@gmail.com or dive@unidive.org.
